the TAU restriction is because we handle transition options in a
"pre-processor" way, i.e. the tool decides at compilation time which leg of
the transtion option that is included in the code. This to reduce code size.
However, the external synonym concept is preserved until execution time,
i.e. you are allowed this "hole" in the implementation until executing the
system and you will be prompted by the Simulator for a value.
Since these two concepts have different implementations with respect to the
time when they are "finally implemented", they unfortunately cannot be
