Per Rick's notes, I am hoping to act as a liaison for the new UML
Profile for Telecomm RFP evolving at OMG. This RFP's scope is pretty
wide and is hinged on the SOA style service provider architecture. One
of its goals is to provide appropriate support for telecom specifics:

Use of Session Initiation Protocol (SIP)
IP Multimedia Services (IMS) architecture
Multiple modalities
Concepts and the notation defined within the SOA RFP (under definition)
Relation to Existing OMG Specs such as, Meta-model for Voice-Based
Applications

Intended use is to provide appropriate support for telecom specifics:

IP Multimedia Services (IMS) architecture
Multiple modalities
