Dear Colleagues,

1. there are meetings planned for ITU-T Q.11, 12, 13/17 to be held at
Kaiserslautern University. The dates available are Tuesday 30 May 2006,
Friday 2nd June 2006 (pm), and Saturday 3rd June 2006 (all day).

2. there is an established practice that these meetings are joint between
ITU-T and the SDL Forum Society, and therefore Society members (including
anyone registered for SAM2006 that accepts free Society membership offered)
are welcome to attend this (and other) Q.11, 12, 13/17 meeting(s).

There are number of issues and work items under these ITU study questions
worth discussing. For example:

Q.11/17 SDL-2000 and eODL

1. The outstanding action items on SDL-2000 (maintenance)
2. The route map and content of SDL-2008 and in particular data.
3. The future need for eODL.

Q.12/17 MSC and URN

1. Finalising GRL (Goal Requirements Language)
and UCM (Use Case Maps) as ITU standards
2. The future for MSC and relationship with UML sequence charts

Q.13/17 System Design Languages Framework and UML

1. Finalising the UML profile for SDL-2000 (Z.109)
2. UML profiles for other ITU-T languages
3. Guidelines for writing UML profiles as ITU Recs
4. Harmonisation and integration of ITU-T System Design Languages

My own particular interests are to progress work SDL-2000 (maintenance),
route map and content of SDL-2008, and Z.109.

The actual meeting time is quite short, but fortunately there is a general
principle that to minimize the number of meetings required, every effort
should be made to resolve studies by correspondence (see clause 1.1.1 of ITU
Rec. A.1 and 245 of the ITU Convention). I therefore propose to continue to
run an electronic meeting between now and SAM2006, so that the meeting time
in Kaiserslautern can be used to make decisions and agreements. I have
therefore taken the steps of creating an initial meeting topic list and
agenda and posting some documents to the ITU informal document area and the
corresponding Members area of the SDL Forum Society website. The directories
are:

http://ties.itu.int/u/tsg17/sg17/xchange/wp3/q13/0605_Kaiserslautern/
[needs a TIES username/password]

http://www.sdl-forum.org/members/Downloads/sg17/wp3/q13/0605_Kaiserslautern/
[needs an SDL Forum Society member username/password]

If you a neither a TIES user nor SDL Forum Society member - then you van
contact me.

The main document at both locations is TDW01 (or TDW01r01, TDW01r02 ...)
which lists the documents posted in directory or (where appropriate)
existing documents that can be found on the SDL Forum Society or ITU web
sites (using username/password as above). For example, the latest version of
Z.109 is currently a TD for the recent SG17 meeting.

Another key document is TDW02 giving an "agenda". Initially the content of
this document is as follows:

--------TDW02-------------

Outline agenda to be elaborated based on contributions

11-May-2006 until 25-May-2006
Discussion by email using the lists tsg17q11#itu.int, tsg17q13#itu.int and
possibly tsg17q12#itu.int.

[If you are not on the lists, contact me and I'll ask the ITU to join you to
the list.]

Tue30-May-2006 (all day)
Q.11/17 meeting

Fri 02-Jun-2006 (pm)
Joint Q.11, 12, 13/17 meeting
Topics: tbd

Sat 03-Jun-2006 (all day)
Joint Q.11, 12, 13/17 meeting
Topic: UML profiles for ITU-T languages (in particular Z.109)

A report of the contributions received, items discussed, decisions made and
results achieved needs to be produced as a report submitted to ITU-T. This
will be written up after 03 June.

-----end-TDW02-------------

Please let me know if you will be participating and let me know what issues
you would like discussed.

Send me contribution documents and I will post them to the WWW sites so that
others can see them.
