Dear Rick,
Here are a few bits for Z.109
Chapter 5:
5.1
Comment RR0509 5
re `A term preceded by the word "stereotype" ...'
The problem seems to be that phrases like "The stereotype blah extends ..."
constitute the first step in actually defining a stereotype in the SDL
UML profile.
The fact that that the definition then conforms to the UML
superstructure (chapter 18)
and infrastructure (ch. 13) is distracting at this point.
The SDL UML profile comprises a number of stereotypes, each of which is an
instance of the class Stereotype from the UML Profiles package, but
writing this
explicitly seem a bit like stating the obvious.
In any event, given that, we can then say
`A term preceded by the word "stereotype" names a stereotype defined in
this SDL UML profile.'
----A more general point: Z109 is both a profile and a recommendation. Is it better to say `this profile' or `this recommendation'?
==========
Chapter 7
7.1
The following metaclasses from UML are included: StateMachine Region State Transition Pseudostate FinalState
(These replace TBD; Are there likely to be any more?) ========
7.2.2 Comment RR42 The other possibility, Reception, is not allowed.
I would very much like this comment to be added to the document, because it would make the constraint absolutely clear.
------------
Comment RR43 `the same as' needs to be better defined
I think this refers to the third paragraph of the Description subsection of 15.3.12 StateMachine in the UML SS: `... the parameters of the state machine in this case match ... and provide the means for accessing ... behavioral feature parameters'
Maybe we should just refer to UML SS here.
-----------
Comment RR44
Procedure-definition/Procedure-graph
I would like to see Procedure-definition used throughout this part of the profile unless there is reason for excluding the possibility of mapping state machines to the other kinds of procedure definition.
If there is a reason for excluding other kinds of proc. defn, then it should be stated.
------------
That's all for now. Sorry it is a bit sparse. I've had a very distracting time recently. The building is being torn apart to make way for a new visualisation suite; it is noisy and dusty, and the electricity and network get cut off from time to time. I'm sure it will be great when it is done ...
