Review of eODL study and Q.11/17 (TDV15)
Discussion:
-----------
1. Report of Berlin meeting(s):
<The following should be taken as personal views, not UK or meeting chairman
views>
The report of the earlier meeting this year should be/have been submitted as
another document, or could be consolidated into this report.
The number of participants in both meetings is still low and essentially
consists of people representing Humboldt University. The organisations
listed in the report as "institutions which work with eODL" is also quite
low, seem to be only German organisations and not representative of a
reasonable number of organisations involved in the telecommunications
industry. No member seems to be supporting eODL any longer.
It appears that the work in progress to complete Annex E and a list of
corrections to Z.130 is complete. These documents are review separately.
The reason for requesting an input on Common Concepts of eODL and UML was so
that any benefit of using eODL compared with UML "deployment" (that is the
use of UML for similar purposes to eODL) could be established. It is
doubtful if this can be derived from the proposed Z.139 document. If there
is a need to go beyond UML for deployment, this should be argued at the
level of functionality and use of eODL and UML "deployment". It should not
be necessary to provide a formal profile for eODL to carry out this
assessment, and it is doubtful how the profile could add to the assessment.
However, the Z.139 draft provided implies that some features eODL is not
necessary because UML2.0 mappings already exist in form of OMG
Recommendations for IDL.
2. Implementers guide: TD3167
For revision 1 - until posted by TSB - see
http://ties.itu.int/u/tsg17/sg17/xchange/wp3/q13/0604_Jeju/
SG17-060419-TD-WP3-3167R1.doc

SG17-060419-TD-WP3-3167R1.doc
A number of format changes have been made to make this more readable, some
changes suggested and at least one error ("costum" instead of "custom") in
TD3167R1. This document has been posted on the informal interchange areas
and submitted for re-issue as a TD with MS Word change markings and
comments.
Everyone should check the proposed changes. If the revised document is
acceptable, this should be submitted for approval by WP3 and then SG17.
For this purpose it is suggested to accept all changes in the document, and
delete the comments, before submission to WP3.
3. Z.130 Annex E: TD3168
For revision 1 - until posted by TSB - see
http://ties.itu.int/u/tsg17/sg17/xchange/wp3/q13/0604_Jeju/
SG17-060419-TD-WP3-3168R1.doc

SG17-060419-TD-WP3-3168R1.doc
Seems this document is (almost) ready for consent. In revision 1 of the
document a few minor changes have been made in format, spelling etc. Someone
should check these. As this Annex will be published as a standalone
document, it should have a short summary added.
There is a reference to an OMG document. For this reason a Recommendation
A.5 justification document should be provided for this reference. If the
reference is already in Z.130, (probably) a justification document is not
needed. If in doubt consult Herb Bertine.
A revised document will be needed.
4. Review of eODL study TD3172
If no-one disagrees, this will be forwarded to WP3 as a Q.11/17 decision.
