Dear all,
I apologize for sending this message to you if you are already registered to the March-April 2005 SG 17 meeting.
If you wish to attend the meeting and have not started the registration and visa application processes yet, I would urge you to do all necessary administrative formalities as soon as possible, recognizing that the visa application process may take some time.

It is important that everyone planning on participating in the Study Group 17 meeting registers for the meeting by either using the form in Collective-letter 1/17 (see above), or using the on-line form at www.itu.int/ITU-T/studygroups/com17/edh/meeting-registration.html.

This is the first meeting of Study Group 17 for the 2005-2008 study period and as such will agree on organization structure and appointment of Working Party Chairmen and Rapporteurs. The meeting will have to review and apply the decisions taken at the World Telecommunication Standardization Assembly held in October 2004 (WTSA-04) and much important work is to be continued or started at the meeting. This includes a new area of work on Internationalized Domain Names, proposal of starting a new work item on Next Generation Networks Directory Protocol, performing the Lead Study Group role for ITU-T given to SG 17 on security and on languages and description techniques, and progressing the work initiated during the last study period and allocated to the new SG 17 Questions. Please also note that the deadline for submitting contributions is 16 March 2005.
