CALL FOR CONTRIBUTIONS
Workshop on ITU System Design Languages
September 15-16, 2008
ITU-T, Geneva, Switzerland
This year's event of the SDL Forum Society will be held on the premises of
the ITU in Geneva, Switzerland. As with previous events such as SAM2006, the
objective is to provide an open arena for participants from academia and
industry to present and discuss the most recent innovations, trends,
experiences and concerns in the field of ITU System Design Languages, that
is:
- Specification and Description Language (Z.100 series ITU Recs.);
- Message Sequence Charts (Z.120 series ITU Recs.);
- User Requirements Notation (Z.150 series ITU Recs.);
- Abstract Syntax Notation One (X.680 series ITU Recs.);
- Testing and Test Control Notation (Z.160 & Z.170 series ITU Recs.).
NOTE: Although UML is not an ITU language, it also within the scope
of the workshop with respect to its use within telecommunications.
The workshop addresses modelling, specification, and analysis of distributed
systems, communication systems, and real-time systems.
To foster discussion and to have a lively environment, contributions on the
above languages and topics are sought. In particular, full papers, short
papers, position statements, work-in-progress papers, posters, demos, and
exhibits can be submitted and/or proposed. The Board members of the SDL
Forum Society will decide on acceptance based on quality of submission, the
number of available time slots, and the overall workshop programme.
The event is organized by the SDL Forum Society and ITU-T in collaboration.
Participation is open to SDL Forum Society Members, ITU Member States,
Sector Members and Associates and to any individual from a country that is a
member of ITU who is working, studying or teaching in area related to the
System Design Languages. The workshop is free of charge (but note that no
ITU fellowships will be granted). Presentations and discussion will be in
English only. The number of places available at the workshop is limited so
the organisers reserve the right to select participants if necessary.
Scope
-----
The event covers the following non-exclusive list of topics:
application of ITU System Design Languages and/or UML
(industrial usage reports, standardization activities,
domain-specific applicability, tool support)
model-driven development
(systems engineering, analysis and simulation of models,
model transformation, reuse approaches, systematic
testing, tool support)
evolution of development languages
(language extensions and semantics, evaluation of
languages, real-time, performance, tool support)
language profiles
(domain-specific language profiles, standardization of
language profiles, modular language design, tool support)
