Welcome to the SDL Forum Society news and discussion area.

This area includes emails posted in our mailing lists:

bulletSDLnews        SDL news and discussion - this list is active.
It can be used to ask questions about the Specification and Description Language
bulletMSCnews      MSC news and discussion - this list is active, but there was very little activity from 2000 to 2008
bulletMeeting        Standards meeting discussions - this list is currently inactive, but there is an archive.
The ITU-T mailing list for Q.13/17 [2009-2012] is now used (contact: rickreed(at)tseng.co.uk).

The Meeting archive requires a password and is intended only for use by SDL Forum Society members, ITU-T participants or other experts involved in the standards.

To join SDLnews, you can try sending an email to majordomo(at)sdl-forum.org with
        subscribe sdlnews
in the body of the email from the email address you want added to the sdlnews list. MSCnews can be joined in the same way. However, email to addresses at sdl-forum.org is only accepted from email servers on a special list, so it is quite likely your email will not be accepted and you may or may not get an indication of this from your email server. If you do not get a response from  majordomo(at)sdl-forum.org assume that the email failed.

If subscribing by email does not work, send a request to join/leave SDLnews/MSCnews using  the webmaster of sdl-forum.org link instead.  This should get a response in one or two days, but handling these requests is not automated and the response may take longer.

When you have subscribed to a list, you should receive a welcome email, and all subsequent emails sent to the list.

You can review previous emails sent to the list by browsing SDLnews or MSCnews or Meeting.

To send an email to the list you have to use the email address that is subscribed to the list and your email server has to be added to the list of permitted servers - this is to prevent spammers sending messages to the list. Your email server will not be added automatically to the permitted list (that would make the list open for spamming). You may have to contact the administration after receiving your welcome message to get your email server permitted. Once your server is permitted, you will then be able to post your messages to sdlnews (or mscnews).

If you only want to receive messages on the list and browse the list, you do not need to get your email server added to a list of permitted servers.

Please note that the old mailing list News (that was for general announcements) is no longer supported. Please post your messages to sdlnews (or mscnews).
